We were very excited to have our first in-person swear-in ceremony. This wonderful group is now ready to advocate for Wayne County children in need!
Wayne County CASA volunteers are caring adults appointed by the court to advocate for a child in the foster care system who has experienced abuse and neglect. All of our new CASA volunteers undergo a thorough background screening and complete 30 hours of pre-service training including courtroom observation prior to being assigned a case.
CASA volunteers build relationships with the children they serve to advocate for their best-interest, recommend services, and present the particular circumstances of a child’s life before the court.
A very special thank you to the Honorable Frank Szymanski who presided over the oath; special thank you to Deputy Court Administrator, ToieLynn Smith and Chief Referee, James Catchings for helping to organize this significant event. Also, thank you to the CASA Board of Directors, family members and friends who joined us in this celebration.
As Judge Szymanski said, “the work is the reward.” We are so excited for our new volunteers to begin the work and start this new phase of their CASA journey. Congratulations to our 2024 Spring Class of CASA volunteers!
